John nodded in confirmation. "Still am...still fighting."

Things in prison were easier, more clear-cut, people were safer from him, but he still came up against the silent war on the home front.

He still returned to 'Nam in his dreams, now he just had the mineshaft and a small town jail to go along with it.

"There are some wars you survive, but you never come home from." he went on, staring straight ahead. "That's the kind of war I served in."
