"...sorry, hope this isn't offensive, but the only other languages I speak are dead ones," Well, and a bit of one that lives in space. "So I'm not sure I'd even be able to recognize what that other language you used was, let alone make a stab at understanding. Is it anything I want to get the translation for?" She's smiling as she says it, though, hoping it's clear she won't be offended regardless of how he answers.
