Given how the rain's current impact on people and her own strangely mixed emotions Amanda's not that surprised by his laughter. And his smile is nice to see; she's pretty used to people who aren't family or Nick (and Gray, now, she supposes) looking at her with…well, maybe they smile, but it's usually pitying. The fact no one she doesn't tell about her past will know why...it makes her ache a little, actually, for those chess games with someone who knew everything about why she could be so awkward and shy around people but brimming with passion for--

"Amanda Perry, pleased to meet you, Tombstone." Given the work she does, the name doesn't throw her. It might be as common as her own, wherever he's from.

She tips her head a little, brain whirling at what he'd said in the middle. "...sorry, hope this isn't offensive, but the only other languages I speak are dead ones," Well, and a bit of one that lives in space. "So I'm not sure I'd even be able to recognize what that other language you used was, let alone make a stab at understanding. Is it anything I want to get the translation for?" She's smiling as she says it, though, hoping it's clear she won't be offended regardless of how he answers.
