It's only thanks to years of practice at burying all his fears, along with the need to keep the downpour from starting again, that keeps Jack from releasing his hold on Gray and giving into complete hysterics. He does close his eyes and takes several deep breaths (remembers a woman, long ago, who told him to do that when…when something was happening on Boeshane, after…after…), then when the feeling like his heart's going to actually break is almost gone he opens his eyes to look at Gray.

"Neither can I," he says, voice tight, scarcely above a whisper. "Same thing, I was fighting, I lost, but then I came back and now…I leave, but I keep coming back. For almost the same length of time," he forces a choked laugh. "Guess the universe really did want to make sure we found each other again, huh?"
